Chris Solinsky

May 21, 2010

‘Chris Solinsky is from Stevens Point, WI and ran at UW-Madison.  This was his first time running a 10K on a track.  He’s normally a 5K guy in track season, but had done some 10Ks in Cross Country.  He basically came out of nowhere here. The video is of the last three minutes of the race.  One of the first things you hear is the announcers saying the lead pack is on pace for 27:40.  Solinsky actually breaks 27 minutes for a new American record.  He’s also the first non-African to ever break 27 minutes.  It’s a pretty gutsy performance.  Chris is also cool because he’s not a skinny wimp like most elite distance runners.’

Watch this amazing video here.
