Strength Training for Cyclists?

Are you a cyclist who has thought about adding strength training into your program?  Here is some information that may be of interest.  This group of researchers concluded that the maximal strength training for eight weeks had improved cycling efficiency and increased time to exhaustion at maximal aerobic power without a change in maximal oxygen uptake, cadence, or body weight. They went on to say that ‘Based on the results from the present study, we advise cyclists to include maximal strength training in their training programs.’ J Strength Cond Res. 2009 Oct 22.
